"Flooding and slips are expected tonight and tomorrow as saturated land throughout the top half of the North Island looks likely to be swamped by a 150mm drenching."
" it is Northland, the Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty - which were struck by heavy rain and wind over the weekend - that are in the new storm's bullseye.
Each area is likely to flood, with 150mm of rain expected to fall on already waterlogged fields and hillsides over the next 24 hours, MetService weather ambassador Bob McDavitt said.
MetService yesterday warned people in those areas to watch for rising streams and rivers, to be wary of slips, and for those in exposed places to beware gale-force winds."

Sounds just like us!
Despite our weather telling everyone to lather on the sunscreen and drink lots of water - the North East coast of England was so foggy yesterday you could hardly see to get the sunscreen and water!
I was ready to smash the radio into pieces as all they went on about was how scorching hote everywhere was. Not EVERYWHERE - idiots!
You stay safe y'hear!
Three years ago a 'weather bomb' hit us and, as our house sits rather low, we had water flow through our front door and into the lounge and family room.
We had 309mm fall in a 12 hour period. There were slips and major damage in various parts of the city. We were lucky that was all the damage we had - wet carpet.
So you can understand - I get a little nervous when there are severe weather warnings!
Take care, Mrinz... I hope you and your home are safe. Especially after all of your beautiful renovations!
Thinking of you--
