"For many men, attending the birth of a child is a momentous and emotional occasion. However, one of the world's leading obstetricians says the father's presence can lead to his partner needing a caesarean delivery, and even to marriage break-ups and mental illness.
Michel Odent, a childbirth specialist, also believes the labour can be longer, more painful and more complicated because the mother senses his anxiety and becomes nervous.
Babies' arrivals in the world would be more straightforward if women were left alone with only a midwife to help them, as they used to be, Odent will tell the Royal College of Midwives' annual conference in Manchester, England, next month."

How ridiculous! When I read this article I was speechless.
To deny the Father the opportunity to be present at the birth of their child is unthinkable. And to credit the presence of the father as a reason for a caesarean delivery defies logic.

How truly ridiculous! Yet - is this part of a trend; that antiquated opinions are being aired more and mor often??? In particular those that denigrates women one way or another...

On another matter...got the link to the frozen kitty story. It is a warning to me, especially because one of my mother's friends killed their cat who was inside the clothes dryer when they unknowingly closed the door, started it, and walked away for an hour.
We bring Teddy home from the vet tonight. He's been boarded there, apparently happily, since I found him, we were out of town for 10 days (how is that for terrible timing??) Will post updates when possible on Amusing Musings!

merinz did i ever relate my grandmother story to you....after the birth of her last lillian{my dads little sis|} they left the placenta in, and later decided to clear the area by sticking a hot poker up her, the pain drove her insane and she spent 75 years of her life in a mental instiution...talk about post mortim depression...my dad went to see his mom and she didn't know him
